This is an awesome and creative idea I would never have thought of.

At Bello Modo, we’ve been trying to think of fun, new, and creative ways to use the huge array of supplies we have in stock. Jewelry is the obvious answer, but we like to think a little out of the box. The sun has been out,  the birds have been chirping, and that’s got us thinking… what can we make for them?

Birdhouses, of course! And while we’re not master woodsmiths, we do have an eye for design. We dropped by our local craft store to pick up the houses themselves, then got to work on adorning them.

Sometimes I wonder if birds ever enjoy the houses humans build for them as much as we do ourselves. Either way, these beautiful birdhouses will add some life to your yard, and hopefully act as an invitation for some new winged friends.

I love and I mean ABSOLUTELY LOVE everything about Vintaj. This is an excellent way to find out more about Vintaj and all of their products!!! I will post up some pictures soon that I have of pieces I have made using their materials and my own designs.

Vintaj Natural Brass is one of my most favorite components to work with. They are the original, and still the best patina brass components on the market in terms of quality and patina. They just came out with a new introduction of some cool components, including 1″ Paddle Headpins, very cool!

I sat and played with new and older components and came up with a few samples. I did not intent to do the earrings in all blue and purple, it just worked out that way.  The pendant in the first photo of my work space is not finished yet, so stay tuned , but you can see the waterlily piece patinaed in green and yellow and a pair of filigrees in greens that will soon become earrings.

The 3 sets of earrings in blues and purples were fun to put together, and so easy. Paint on the patinas, 2…

This is extremely insightful and interesting to read. Thank you Bello Modo for sharing this.

I just finished watching the movie ‘Burnt’, basically about the maturing process oVintage2f a chef, played by
Bradley Cooper. I was entertained, liked the style, and the beauty of the dishes they prepared, and, well Bradley Cooper, but mostly it made me reflect on my job, and what we do at Bello Modo.

I know, sending out beading supplies is not on the same level as a Michelin chef, but in a way we contribute to the beauty in the world, sending out the supplies to the makers, to those who take them and make something beautiful with them, as a gift, for themselves, or perhaps to offer for sale. I like to think that we send out little packages of the “seeds of beauty”, and when they arrive the recipients start the germination period and spread the love, joy, and beauty with those around them.

I know, I…

These are definitely unique, gorgeous and truly one of a kind!!! No two could ever be the same and just from own opinion it makes jewelry even that much more special than it already was.

BotanicalEarrings1These botanical earrings are great for gardeners, outdoors-lovers, or just anyone who likes flowers. You can preserve a beautiful flower you grew or save a wildflower from a hike, or even remember a special occasion by making jewelry from wedding or a special occasion such as Mother’s Day. There are more flowers around you than you realize—Jean, who made these earrings, is an herbalist so the rose and marigold (calendula)  came from a medicinal tea blend she had with her!

All of the petals Jean used were dried and still in their natural form, so there are some places they meet the surface of the resin. I think it gives the jewelry a cool texture, but if you want your plants to be fully submerged in the resin, press them first so they are flat. (Here’s a good article illustrating different ways to press flowers.)

This was Jean’s first time working with resin, but the Nunn Design 2-part resin…

This is a lovely necklace and earrings set made by Bello Modo. The best part it uses some of my top favorite brands. Swarovski, Tierra Cast and Nunn Design…just to let you know. I would make these in an antiqued silver for me to personally wear. But the tanzanite and dark indigo go fabulously with the set like it is.

The materials needed and instructions for both pieces are included as well.

Enjoy and share with me what your favorites are to make and products to use.

NewYearsCrystalEarrings

New Year’s Eve is a starry night, so wearing a lovely Starry Night earring and necklace set will be the perfect thing to set your evening off. These pieces are fun and easy to make, and a great way to show off the new TierraCast crystal earring posts and links.

Have you ever noticed that celebrities on the red carpet almost always wear dangly post earrings? I’m liking them more and more every day! Keep reading for instructions for both the necklace and bracelet.

I like these a lot. Simple, yet classic and elegant. Can be dressed up or down. Love versatile jewelry.

PalaceStepsOutside

One thing about working at Bello Modo is that you’ll see an item over and over again until you are obsessed with it. (If you’ve ever worked at a craft store, you know what I’m talking about.) For me, it was the Palace Green Opal crystals by Swarovski. There’s just something about them: they’re milky, moody, and subtle and I knew I had to make something.

PalaceStepsGlass

The angle of these earrings reminds me of sweeping palace steps, hence the name. Two shades of copper all-metal seed beads set off the smoky emerald green crystal, and are echoed by the Nunn Design fine faceted ball chain and crimp ends. They are seriously luxurious and feel as good to wear as they look. Keep reading for instructions!

CicadaRing1

Sometimes necklace, bracelets, and earrings get all the glory. When I see a beautiful component, how to make it into a ring isn’t usually my first thought. But after my bug-loving friend pointed out how well these Vintaj cicadas fit along her finger, I’m going to try to keep my mind more open.

I promised I’d figure out how to make a cicada into a ring for her—and so, this simple, chunky ring was born. If you’d like, you could also add a patina instead of burnishing for a more colorful look.

Keep reading for materials and instructions!
